Not a bad show, but could use some polish. It reminded me of those shows from late 90s and early 00s, usually running for just 1 season, where protagonist gets some sort of mystical power or generally gets involved with some paranormal, and then needs to deal with related stuff each episode in order to save his/her soul.

I think the closest one would be "Reaper" from 2007, but that one definitely was lighter, more focused on humor and I don't think it had gore. Most importantly, it had way more younger people, while here majority are like over 60, I guess. Not like old(er) people can't kick ass, but it's definitely weird to see a mother, who looks younger than her son, trying to be all gun-ho about things. Maybe not literally, but still.

Unlike similar shows of the past this one definitely has an overarching plot from the get-go, which is generally good, but it feels extremely rushed. Those old shows took their time exploring the circumstances of the characters, and those characters themselves. They built connection. Don't know about you, but I will forget Hub the bondsman tomorrow, especially, since he is not that likable of a character. This show is still fine for a background watch, though. But nothing more.
