Episode 13:
A lot of people were affected by episode 10, from what I understand, but I think overall, it's Nanachi's and Mitty's story, that has the most impact. Riko getting hurt was... Well, it was an accepted risk. It might have looked brutal (and probably felt brutal), but it was something, that she signed-up for when she decided to pursue the journey. What happened to Mitty and Nanachi was just plain cruel, because they did not choose that in any way or form.
And, yes, technically, Nanachi becoming a cute fluffy rabbit is better than what happened to Mitty, it's still cruel. Seeing that suffering, unable to do anything, unable to communicate, feeling the crushing guilt day in and day out... People often disregard this stuff, but mental anguish can often cause just as much physical pain. Let's hope healing comes next for her.
Oh, and the rules of the curse still do not make much sense to me. It could have made it more difficult to go up, like extreme fatigue or something, but even with the analogy of a barrier with spikes, it would not have more drastic affect the deeper you went. It would be more or less equal through-out.
