MiSide was compared a lot to DDLC, but both were compared to this game. Some comments, that I read suggested that this was "peak". After playing it, I'd say they were exaggerating, but it still not a bad story, overall if you go for the "true route".
The biggest thing that I do not like is that this is just not my type of game, even among visual novels, which are usually not my type of game either. It just has too much meaningless text, describing mundane things. If we were to focus on the stuff that is actually required to move the story in "true route", we could probably cut the size in half. It could work as is in an anime format, simply because animation is much more expressive, though.
That said, that "meaningless" text does play an important role in 3rd part of the "true route". Or rather, it makes sense there specifically. It fits the narrative and it fits the gameplay. It still felt like a chore for me most of the time, but I understood it. Overall the "true route" is quite decent, I do like what they did there, although I probably could nitpick on some things, that felt a bit too unrealistic to me, but maybe those things are normal in Japan.
Is that route worth the purchase, though? Well, if at discount and you do not buy the uncensoring patch... Probably, yes. The patch is not worth it. Yes, one of the sex scenes (no matter how controversial it may be) probably can provide more context to what triggers the 3rd part of the "true route", but considering that the impact of that scene is then practically forgotten during dialogue at the end of the game - you can live without it. Unless you like that kind of stuff. Which includes not only explicit images (and you can find better ones), but also very cheesy dialogues, that do not match any of the characters. I think it was more or less tolerable during first part of the first sex scene in 2nd part of the "true route", but everything else is... Not my type of reading, for sure.
So yeah, at a discount - worth considering. And if you will choose Aoi, because even considering what she puts you through in 2nd part of "true route", it's way better what Miyuki does to you. Way better. And Aoi just deserves happiness, I think, pure and simple.
