6 minutes. That's all I could tolerate. 6 goddamn minutes. And I felt nausea way earlier, specifically when they started singing, because the signing sounded off-key to me. Listen, I do not care for the original movie. I saw it multiple times as a kid, as I did with lots of other Disney classic animations, but I was not "a fan" of it, at least enough to give this new one a try despite what the masses were saying (even though I was facepalming at a lot of stuff before release). All that said...

This is BAD. B. A. D. This was on the level of what students with no budget can do. And I am not talking about the visuals. Not even about the signing (heck, I probably can sing better). I am talking about story-telling. Any decent (let alone good) writer knows that it's "show, don't tell", especially with visual story-telling like a movie, and this one started from lots of words right away. There are very few cases where that can work, when it's some sci-fi world and you just have to give some context, but this is not it.

Even if I did not know anything about Snow White, why would I care for a story about a girl, that is shown as privileged to be even more privileged from the get-go, with no real challenges, besides the "evil step mother". There was not even a frame of grief about her real mother dying! Did I have to start empathizing with her just because she gave some other girl a flower crown?

yes, some may start to argue like "you needed to watch the whole movie", but... Every decent writer knows that the beginning is very important. There are literal books about how to write good beginnings of a story, and how to do the same for visual types of media, as well. And there are also expectations, that if a movie has huge budget, that maybe there will be decent writing. It's a natural expectation, and when first 5-10 minutes do not uphold this expectations - I would rather save my time and watch something else.
