The Beginning After the End

An edgier Rudy? The character is different, obviously, but I can't escape the feeling that he is also similar in some way. He also reminds of some other anime, not sure which one, where some "evil" dude was reincarnated and became "good". Or maybe it was not even an anime.

Anyway, too early to say for sure whether this will be good. The setup so far seems good, quite balanced. There were quite a few little things hinting on how things will be changing further, and how the character will change as result, but... It can go bad still. It all depends on how they "soften" this "killer machine". Just "how", not "how much", although that also can be important. Definitely giving it a try to see how things go.

They put quite an important(-looking) thing after the credits. Hate when anime does this. Otherwise was kind of "meh". Felt underdeveloped and undercooked somehow. Will give it a chance with next episode, though.

This episode was quite boring and half-assed. Really unclear why this "beast" was helping the boy. Besides, maybe, loneliness. I am giving it yet another shot only because I heard that at some point the story becomes good, and I am really hoping next episode will be it. Or maybe that it won't be, because then I will have less seasonal anime to watch.

So when is it supposed to  be "mindblowingly good" exactly? Aside from slide-show animation, it has been quite "meh" besides 1st episode.

I feel like I am watching 1st season of Solo Leveling, but with (way) worse animation. I had similar experience then: it was outright boring and stupid at times, but then it seems to show just a glimpse of something that may be interesting, which almost forces me to give 1 more episode a chance. I think I will need something really good to happen in next episode, and if not - I will drop it after all. I stuck with it too long now anyway.

Episode 8:

Interactions with people seemed stiff, especially with family. Not family-like for sure. Also what's with "we will invest in Arthur"? Why would they? Help him talk to someone at academy to maybe get accepted - fine. But invest? For what benefit? Just to have an Avatar on their side? But again, just helping meet people probably would be enough. Also the Avatar moment felt underwhelming with this animation. I may consider reading the comic, but definitely dropping the anime.
